Surgeon (Pediatric) Questions Cleft Lip And Palate

Cleft lip operation for 7 mo. old?

My friend recently had a baby who is suffering from cleft lip, but the baby has no breathing issues. Because of this, she was told to wait until the baby is at least 7 months old to have a surgical procedure done. Is this reasonable? Should she go sooner or later?

I would defer to the surgeon. They are going to be the best source of information about when to time the procedure. Waiting may have significant advantages for your child and the surgery team.
Greetings, although exists several types of Cleft lip, the surgery is recommended after 3months of life; so in this case 7m seems reasonable. What it's important is to see if the gap is wide, or not; in such cases should be evaluated by orthodentist first. Thank you
