ā€œConcussion?ā€

This past Saturday I jumped in my pool. It was very cold and when I came up to the surface, I started shaking my head violently back and forth for maybe 3-4 seconds. Since then I have had a small headache and it feels as if my brain is moving with my head if I move in a particular direction. For example, if I move my head back, it feels like it hits the back of my head. I’m also experiencing some brain fog at the moment. What is your opinion? Does this seem like a concussion, whiplash, or something else?

It is possible you may have hit your head on the bottom, but also shaking your head violently is not a good idea. If that was not willful, it could have been a seizure or something like a seizure. The brain does move a bit within the head, but it is unlikely that you feel it hitting the back of your head. The brain fog is a more concerning symptom and could be concussive. Please see your doctor, as a full neurological examination and possibly imaging of the brain would be considered reasonable.
