Cough and other concerns about the common cold?

I've been having problems with a cough and nasal congestion since Sunday, which I'm certain is nothing more than a common cold. However, I'm currently on day five of being sick, but my body is feeling much better than it was the first four days, my voice is no longer hoarse, but I'm still having problems with nasal congestion and a cough, the nasal congestion isn't as bad because of usage of saline spray. My question is, even as I take cold & flu medication and use cough drops, how long could the cough stay around for potentially before going away entirely?

Colds often last two weeks. Sometimes before you get past one virus, you pick up another. Get plenty of fluids and plenty of rest. Wash your hands frequently.
