Covid-19 when are you sleeping too much?

My husband is 61, has had covid symptoms for 2 weeks, tested positive on the 27th. He has never slept much but now is sleeping 16 to 18 hours a day. Every time he wakes up, he is almost immediately ready to go lay back down. At what point should we be worried?

Medications: none
Conditions: Covid positive

Just monitor O2 levels and follow up with PCP if covid symptoms don't improve. Excessive sleepiness and fatigue is commonly caused by covid. Covid is also expected to cause narcolepsy as well. If this is the only symptom he has, then consulting with sleep specialist is warranted.
