Once your Invisalign case is completed, you will need to wear a retainer at night indefinitely or your teeth will start to move out of the ideal positions again. Best regards, Jason D. Henderson, DDS
Yes, you have to wear it every night for 2 years. I would also recommend occasional wear, at least twice a week, for another 5 years or longer.
HI, Yes, you need to wear a retainer after Invisalign. With regular braces you wear a retainer full time for six months, then at night for six months, then every other night for six months and then you're done. However, there are times when the dentist will have the patient wear bonded lingual retainers (wires that are bonded to the tongue side of the teeth) forever. Nevertheless, when functional appliances were used to grow the maxillary and mandibular bone the teeth are more stable and bonded lingual retainers are typically not required just regular retainers. Getting back to the Invisalign, absolutely wear the retainers. Sincerely, Dr. Druckman
To whom it may concern, I recommend wearing a retainer after completing Invisalign treatment in order to maintain your beautiful new smile. First three to six months you will need to wear the retainer for 12 to 22 hours per day. After that period of time, you could wear the retainer only at night. I recommend to evaluate your smile and current teeth position in order to be able to determine specific time length for you. Respectfully, Dr. Olga Spivak
Every time that your teeth are moved with Invisalign or orthodontic treatment, the patient must wear retainers! If dental retainers are not worn the the teeth can move back to original alignment! Think of it as if the teeth have memory and want to go back to original position! In some cases permanent retainers are chosen to splint teeth together so they do not move, however those permanent retainers can cause periodontal or gum disease if your oral hygiene is not excellent.
