Do you need antibiotics after a deep cleaning?

I am a 31 year old male. I want to know if you need antibiotics after a deep cleaning?

Usually, you do not need antibiotics after a deep cleaning, but should brush and floss to help the "gums" heal. Always call your dentist, though, if you are uncomfortable or experience any symptom you are concerned about.

No
Only if you are recommended to by your physician for mitral valve prolapse or occasionally for artificial joints
If you have current infection going on during the deep cleaning, you may be prescibed antibiotics or a rinse like peridex to help deal with this. The majority of the time antibiotic pills are not given
Not necessarily, unless you have lot of inflammation going around your gums and have lot of bone loss. Normally anti-microbial mouth rinse like Peridex (Chlorhexidine) is prescribed after deep cleaning.
Yes
