Doctor Questions Insomnia

Does insomnia affect my child's schooling?

I think my daughter has insomnia. She stays up all night and takes naps throughout the day when she's home. I haven't heard anything from her school about her falling asleep in class or falling behind in general. But in the future, can this affect her schooling? How is insomnia treated in children?

Definitely it can affect. You daughter most likely has delayed circadian rhythm disorder. A sleep specialist can help you to advance her circadian rhythm using melatonin and light therapy
This can affect her daytime concentration and subsequently her grades. Stop the daytime naps so she will sleepy and night. Stop electronics esp cell phone so she will not be hyperviligent listening for a text. The blue light can also prevent her from going to sleep. Melatonin before bed can help get into a sleep cycle,
