Yes it helps ovulation if you have trouble ovulation
Metformin is used to help cells in the body utilize glucose better in women with infertility due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). There are only a few trials which show that Metformin alone helps with ovulation induction and in turn helps you to get pregnant. The caveat is that the patients should have a normal BMI for Metformin to work. So, weight loss works better than Metformin in helping regulate menstrual cycles in PCOS patients. The best combination to get pregnant in PCOS patients is weight loss, Metformin, and Clomid. Please discuss with your OBGyn about this.

Good luck!
