A CT scan can provide useful information about the presence and severity of fatty liver disease, but it is not the most accurate method for diagnosis. Not very accurate. A fibroscan or MR elastography are better tests to detect fatty liver.
It has its role. Most physicians start with ultrasound less invasive no radiation exposure. Then if needed a more detailed examination with MRI or fibroscan.
