How do I know if my tooth infection is spreading?

I am a 34 year old female. I wonder how can I know if my tooth infection is spreading?

You would have to have the dentist evaluate it with visual exam and x-ray examination. Also, Symptoms you feel would help identify infection at times. But Dental Infections are non-painful at times.
If you know you have an infection, it should be treated as soon as possible. When infections spread, including dental infections, you often see swelling throughout the area and increased pain. These can sometimes become very dangerous and you should be evaluated by a dental or medical professional as soon as you can to determine the origin, the extent, and the best treatment.
If you have a fever, feeling ill, yes, it could be spreading. See your dentist immediately. 
I would suggest that you visit your dentist on a regular basis. A dentist can check on you and make an assessment based on X-rays.
