How do I prepare my child for general anesthesia?

My son is 6 years old. I want to know how can I prepare my child for general anesthesia?

Kids receive mask anesthesia with a laughing gas and after they are asleep, intravenous catheter is in and meds are given via intravenous route. You can tell your son that he has to breathe the mask to prepare to go to the Space like the astronauts do and then he wakes up and the surgery is over.
