Depends on what type of infection. You need to see a dentist.
Most importantly, the gum infection requires an accurate diagnosis. If a dentist diagnoses an abscess originating from inside the tooth, then a root canal or extraction is indicated. Untreated, this can become an acute emergency. If the gum infection is mild/early gum disease, a valid therapy known as oil pulling can be affective. The technique is simple. Swish with a half oz. of almond oil for 20 minutes once per day. There are other causes of gum infection. Please see a dentist to identify the cause and appropriate care.
Interesting question. How did this begin? Was it a matter of poor brushing habits or technique? Depending on the situation, you can start by brushing, gently, along your gumline, TWICE a day. Next, you need to Floss once a day. Try a toothpaste like Paradontax or something for gum health. And try a mouth wash that's Not alcoholic, but is anti-bacterial, like Listerine Zero, Colgate Total, Crest ProHealth, among others. This MIGHT help. But -- you need to see a dentist, find out exactly what's going on, how good or bad everything is and let him or her guide your treatment. Everything I just said is IN ADDITION to what your dentist might say.
