How do you know if you have an infection after oral surgery?

I am a 34 year old male. I wonder how can I know if I have an infection after oral surgery?

You will notice discharge or pus, persistent numbness, swelling in the jaw, lymph node swelling, face or mouth swelling, pain, trouble swallowing, chewing, breathing, and talking. A persistent bitter taste or bad breath and fever. Thank you.
A blood work can show infection, but there would fever and other constitutional symptoms and swelling and pain, etc.
Needs to be treated with antibiotics. If possible have a bacterial culture.
1) Do you still have pain?
2) Do you have fever?
3) Is there pus in the area of surgery?

If you have all 3 of these within a few days after surgery, make an appointment with the surgeon, so the area can be re-examined.

The pain and soreness at the surgery site may start increasing instead of decreasing. You may develop fever, malaise, etc. If you suspect any of these, please contact your surgeon.
