“How is a knee cap replacement surgery done?”
What does it take to get knee cap replacement surgery done? Are there any risks involved in the same?

Typically, an isolated injury to the patella (knee cap) or trochlear groove without arthritic changes in the other knee compartments. There are always risks in surgery. You have to weigh the risks versus benefits with your surgeon.
If you are referring to partial knee cap replacement, it is resurfacing of the kneecap, and placing a metal groove for it to glide in when the knee bends. It is only "part" of a total knee replacement, with a much faster recovery and does not prohibit a total knee replacement later if necessary. I perform a high volume of these procedures because in the right person they can do very well. A 40 minute procedure and home same day.
