Remember that heart bypass surgery is not a cure for heart disease. If you keep your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight under control and avoid smoking , bypasses can stay open for many years.
Can be for life in some.
Nobody knows the answer. There are many factors that facilitate the closing of any graft such as continuing hardening of the arteries (coronary arteries). Continued high cholesterol; problems with clotting. It’s impossible to answer the question because of these multiple issues.
