Depending on the level and type of surgery, many foot surgeries are ambulatory which means that you will be walking away from the procedure.
You will likely have walking aids ranging from crutches and canes and special walking boots and shoes.
The need for bed rest is unlikely unless there are complications and you couldn't walk well preop.
Discuss this with your surgeon or his/her staff so you understand the postop orders.
Good fortune

It all depends on the type of procedure(s) performed. With some procedures you can walk on the foot immediately. With other procedures you should be non-weight bearing for 4-6 weeks or longer. You need to talk to your surgeon about this.
It depends on the surgery. Sometimes your walking in a special shoe for 4-6 weeks. Sometimes you'll be nonweightbearing for 4-6 weeks or longer. I would recommend asking the your podiatrist who is doing the surgery about walking after your surgery.
Hello, It varies, and it depends on the type of surgery you are having. Every patient is different in their recovery times and progression. Thank you, Ingrid Schmidt
With most types of less invasive foot surgery the patient will walk right away in an offloading shoe or boot. Depending on the severity or involvement of the surgery, a period of non weightbearing may be prescribed for a few weeks or sometimes months.
Depends on the surgery, technique, and structure being fixed. In my office, all elective procedures done are in our in-office suite, under local anesthesia, with no hardware, and patients walk on the same day out of the office. Please look into my office's social media and/or website for testimonials.
I suggest you have a list of questions and concerns to ask your surgeon when you are planning surgery.
It depends on what type of foot surgery you are to have. A tendon repair or ligament repair may take longer to heal and may require a longer period of non-weight bearing or protected weight bearing. A fracture or bunion repair may take about 5-6 weeks prior to wearing normal shoes and ambulating in a normal fashion. I would say it will take an average of 4-12 weeks depending on the type of surgery and how complex it is.
It depends on the type of surgery. In some surgeries, you can walk on your feet the same day. Some other surgeries, you only bear weight partially for a period of time. Other types of foot surgeries require you to stay off weight bearing for periods that vary from 4 to 12 weeks.
Walking after foot surgery will vary depending on the procedure performed. I recommend you discuss with your surgeon the particulars of your case
