Depends on medication used. There are long-acting medications, and secondly, the placement of medication at the site of injection.
The length of time for numbness and muscle weakness depends on the drugs which were injected. However, shoulder surgery itself can result in some numbness and/or weakness. If you have questions you should consult your anesthesiologist and surgeon about any long-lasting effects.
The duration of a nerve block for shoulder surgery can vary depending on the local anesthetic agent used and possible additives. For example, I use a solution of ropivicaine with dexamethasone as an additive which allows a duration of approximately 28-32 hours. How long a block lasts is also patient dependent and can be affected by other systemic issues like diabetes, etc.
Depends on the agent used. Usually 2 to 6 hours. If a catheter is placed it would be much longer.
Nerve block lasts between 12 and 16 hrs, sometimes it can last up to 24 hrs if Marcaine was used as a local anesthetic for the block.
