I am a 48 year old female. I want to know how often should you have an echocardiogram?

If your echocardiogram is normal, you don’t need to have it repeated. However, if there is some abnormality, depending on its severity, yearly testing may be needed.
Only when you need it. Especially in patients with cardiac symptoms.
This is one question you might get different answers depending on who you ask. Firstly, everybody should have an annual medical examination, during which an electrocardiogram must be done for anyone over 50 years of age. If there are new changes, or, patient has new complaints, echocardiogram should be done for further evaluation. With that said, anyone with
significant cardiac symptoms should have an echocardiogram as one of the evaluating tools.

For asymptomatic patients, once a year after age 40. Otherwise, your cardiologist will advise.
