Rheumatologist Questions Knee Problems

I can hear a crackling sound in my knee. What could this be?

I am a 33-year-old woman, and lately I can hear a crackling sound in my knee every time I flex my legs. Could this sound be due to weakening of the bones or is it something else?

At your young age, the most common cause of this noise ( we call it Crepitus ) is your kneecap as it rubs on the femur

we call this Patellofemoral Syndrome and there are simple exercises one can do to help this
Probably chondromalacia patella. It needs to be assessed by a specialist. Stay away from surgery.
