I have numbness after facial shingles?

I am a 68 year old male who developed shingles about a month ago. I think the sad passing of my wife in May from ovarian cancer contributed. The shingles with a red rash was only on the whole left side of my face. After taking tablets prescribed by a doctor for seven days, the black blisters that formed fell off, but it has left me with numbness on my forehead, left eyebrow, eyelids, and cheek. During the day when I am up and about it’s not too bad, but for the last five nights when I’m in bed, I get a funny burning and itchiness that makes it really hard to sleep. I try not to rub the area as this makes it worse. Will the numbness and itchiness go away? Soon I hope, as this is driving me mad.

You have what is called post-herpetic Neuralgia as the shingles virus has irritated the nerves in that location
