Follow the recommendations for whichever seems more like what you have and if it doesn't get better or is getting worse, see a specialist.
Get tested for carpal tunnel syndrome.
If you are having numbness and tingling in both of your hands when you wake up, then you likely have carpal tunnel syndrome. I would suggest you trying wearing braces at night to see if this helps your symptoms. You should also see a hand surgeon for a proper evaluation.
Most often, numbness when sleeping that recovers when awake, is due to positioning. Many people "hug" a pillow at night and put pressure on the carpal tunnel causing temporary numbness in their hand, especially the thumb and first two fingers. Also, some people sleep with their neck in a twisted position and put pressure on the nerves to the arm. Proper neck positioning and/or wearing a cock-up wrist splint at night should eliminate the problem. If the problem persists while awake or you develop other symptoms such as weakness or pain, please see a physician.

Most likely this is carpal tunnel syndrome. You could try a nighttime carpal tunnel brace. And pay a visit to your local hand surgeon.
