Is it normal for a root canal to hurt months later?

I had a root canal 3 months ago. It hurts now. Is it normal? What should I do?

If your tooth still hurts three months after root canal therapy, you should see your dentist immediately. Usually, you might have slight discomfort for a few days after root canal therapy. But, if your tooth still hurts for months after, you should have your tooth examined by your dentist to determine if further treatment is required.
No, though not unheard of. Possible residual nerve, the bite can be off, a different tooth. Speak to an endodontist (root canal specialist) asap.
The best option is to make an appointment with your General Dentist and let them evaluate the situation.
It can be normal, I would say it could be a deeper problem and maybe you need it extracted? I advise to see your dentist as soon as possible!
No! It’s not normal for a root canal to hurt months later. You should contact the dentist who performed the root canal for an evaluation.
No, it's not normal. See an endodontist.
If your tooth is still hurting, or has started to hurt, 3 months post-treatment, it's advisable to have a post-operative check in with your Dentist. The continued pain could be a sign or persistent infection or abscess. Pain could also be due to a crack or vertical root fracture in your tooth.

If it's a persistent infection, you'll typically notice a dull pain on biting. It will feel like pushing on a badly bruised area.

If, in contrast, you feel sharp pain on biting, it's likely a cracked tooth. In these cases, you may need to have your tooth removed as cracked teeth are often not restorable.
Yes, it can sometimes take a root canal 6-12 months to heal.
