Foot & Ankle Surgeon Questions Podiatrist

Is it possible to correct my ankles?

As a child, I had feet that tended to turn slightly inwards and I think this may have caused the wonky ankle shape I have now. Is there any product I can use to correct this, please? I have heard of gels correct over/under pronation (I'm not sure what mine is). Please could you guide me to potential products and/or let me know whether this can be improved? Please see attached photos. I've always had to hide my feet as I've been ashamed of them.

Hi! If you are symptomatic I would recommend wearing supportive shoes and over the counter inserts. Physically therapy can be helpful. Surgery is an option but there are no guarantees to get the outcome your desire.
Yes, there are solutions. Please go to Alignmyfeet.com, or google hyprocure procedure, find a local doctor that does this. hope this helps.
While it is hard to accurately assess your foot and ankle positioning from the pictures you provided, the simple answer is yes. There are custom foot orthoses which can help to realign the foot and ankle joints. Gel inserts simply would not be sturdy enough to truly correct the joint alignment. If more aggressive correction is needed, there are supra-malleolar orthoses and even Ankle-foot-orthoses that can be used. The custom foot orthoses will probably be your best option at this time because of your age and they can go inside shoes easily.
Before a discussion of which treatment would be best suited to your condition, a full orthopedic exam (by a podiatrist) should be performed. There are a few different conditions that could cause one or both feet to turn in as a child. Each has its own preferred/recommended treatment plan. It could turn out you have a structural alignment problem, in your foot or ankle or leg or knee or hip, or vertebral (back) bones, joints, muscles or tendon attachments. Possible treatments may include physical therapy, stretching, custom orthotics with an attached splint, steroid injections, physical therapy, or surgery. I hope this helped!
Hello, Thank you for your question. We have to evaluate you and take foot x-rays if needed.
I'm not able to see how the feet and ankle are positioned through the attached photos but if their pronated, it is possible that we would be able to make you custom shoe Orthotics to help position your ankles better in the shoes.
It is difficult to fully evaluate your situation without seeing both your feet and ankles. Your ankles are affected by your feet and vice versa. It would help to see both in relationship to each other.
Hi, thank you for your question.
It's difficult to evaluate any deformity in your ankle from the images provided. Also, intoe is a very broad definition and multiple issues can result in toes pointing inwards. Typically for such issues, no amount of gel products can fix it. I recommend scheduling an appointment with a podiatrist for an evaluation. Sometimes x-rays will be required to get further information and will guide appropriate decision making on the proper treatment.

I recommend you schedule an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis and treatment options
Sorry but the photo's really show more of your legs and I can't see your feet really. However, for feet turning inward that is called pronation and it will have effects on the shape and look of your ankles and with time, activity level, weight, and the quality of shoes you wear will all have an effect long term on your feet and ankles. My recommendation is for you to see a podiatrist near you to be evaluated. I would likely start with a good prefabricated insole, but unfortunately there really are not any good over-the-counter insoles that I can recommend, most all that are available are not not worth the cost of the devices and some do nothing to help. Likely you will need a custom pair of orthotics for your feet to help support your feet and help align both your feet and ankles long term. Good Luck.
