Neurosurgeon Questions Vision Impairment and Blindness

My sister lost her vision due to an accident. Is it possible to get the vision back?

My sister had a severe road accident after which she lost her eye sight. Is there a possibility to get her vision back?

Recovery of vision is directly related to the reason for the loss of sight. A full neurological assessment and appropriate MRI and CTT scanning are indicated as well as visual field and ophthalmologic examinations are indicated.
When vision loss goes to the point of the person not being able to perceive light in the eye, we consider it impossible for it to recover. If there is any light perception remaining, there may be a possibility of improving. Certainly, she needs to be closely followed by a physician and appropriate diagnostic studies need to be performed.

Very unlikely
It all depends on the cause and what exactly happened to the optic nerves and pathway and how long ago this took place. So without more details, I can't answer this question properly.
Yes, it is possible she will regain her vision. Much depends on the time since the accident because recovery may occur as late as 18 months after the accident but rarely after that. An MRI scan might be helpful in finding the cause of the visual loss and helping to predict whether or not it will return.
It is very difficult to answer this question because you gave so little information. Is the visual loss in one eye or both? How long has it been since the injury? In general, there are many reasons why vision may be impaired or lost after trauma--sometimes it's because of injury to the eye itself, sometimes injury to the optic nerve and sometimes because of brain injury. The prognosis (how likely it is to recover) depends on what was injured, the severity of the injury and how long a time has passed since the injury.
I would have to evaluate her case and her MRI to know what happened to her vision specifically. However, if there was any injury to the optic nerves, then, generally those do not repair themselves. If her vision loss was due to retinal detachment or problems within the globe then her prognosis might be different. She would also need to be evaluated by a neurologist and a neuroopthalmologist.
