Absolutely safe. We treat a lot of seniors for a variety of issues. Chiropractic for seniors has been show to great for longevity of quality of life.
Age of the patient is irrelevant regarding the safety of chiropractic. If your concern is over the safety of chiropractic applied to osteoporotic bones or arthritic joints, you should know that chiropractors treat these conditions frequently. Care needs to be taken as always but chiropractors are trained for this. You can ask for gentler techniques like activator, Logan Basic, BEST, etc. but usually the chiropractor will already be considering that when treating a 68 year old patient.
Yes it is. I would suggest to ensure the maximum safety you seek out a Chiropractor who is certified in the Cox Flexion Distraction technique. Follow this link https://www.coxtechnic.com/physicians.aspx
The goal of chiropractic care is to maintain a nervous system free from interference so that the body can work at its maximum capacity. In the world of chiropractic there are currently many different techniques, some with greater force and speed, others with less, and today there are instruments that can help us make adjustments to those patients who require a more careful adjustment and less force now. Chiropractic is for everyone and is adapted to everyone. I recommend that when you make an appointment with a chiropractor you call and ask about their techniques and specialty to see if they fit your needs and they could help you.
Of course it is safe. 9,000 people die every year taking tylenol, aspirin and Ibuprofen though.
Yes, it is absolutely safe for seniors to get a Chiropractic adjustment. Although, if you have osteoarthritis or osteoporosis, then the Chiropractor should use a Chiropractic Adjusting Instrument to perform the Adjustment. The Instrument Adjustment will be more gentle than the traditional manual Chiropractic Adjustment where there is a characteristic “popping” sound. There are a number of Chiropractic Instruments available that most Chiropractors have at least one. Some of the names are; Activator, Proadjuster, Ultralign, and Arthostim. They work very well, but are painless and won’t generate any post-treatment soreness that you may have with a traditional Chiropractic Adjustment.
Absolutely. Unless you have really bad osteoporosis or have some pathology that would not respond well to manipulation. Any good Chiropractor will perform an examination and more than likely a few X-rays to make an accurate diagnosis and to make sure that manipulation is a safe choice of therapy for you.
I hope it helps.

Take care and be well,

In general Chiropractic adjustments are safe. I recommend finding a Chiropractor who sees a lot of senior patients.
