Is kidney biopsy painful?

I will have a kidney biopsy. Is kidney biopsy painful?

Pain at the biopsy site is common after a kidney biopsy, however, it lasts only few hours. Local anesthesia will be given before the procedure, and it will minimize the pain. Thank you.
Hello,
the sedation and local anesthesia prevents pain.
I perform kidney biopsies with conscious sedation and local anesthetic.
With this preparation there is no pain.

Moderate sedation and local anesthesia are used in children and adults, the type depending on the centers and providers who perform the procedure. Pain control after the procedure is recommended as well. The procedure itself is not painful, and post-procedure pain depends on pain tolerance and adequate pain control.
