Is there a vaccine for herpes?

My husband has been diagnosed with herpes. Is there a vaccine to prevent the same from spreading to me? What can I do to prevent it?

Not at this time. Although there have been clinical trials, to date, no manufacturer has come to the table with a vaccine.
Right now, antiviral drugs, including acyclovir, famcyclovir, and valacyclovir are available to fight the disease. More than half of adults, in the US, are purported to be positive for antibodies.
Unfortunately there is no vaccine for herpes yet. Prevention would include limiting direct contact when an active outbreak is detected, suppressive therapy in the infected individual with antiviral therapy.
