Sleep Medicine Specialist Questions Breathing issues

My daughter sleeps with her mouth open. Is this ok?

My daughter sleeps with her mouth open. Her breathing also sounds a little shallow when I walk in to check on her. She's only a year old. Could this indicate a breathing issue?

She needs to undergo a sleep study. Of course, she needs review of her medication if she is taking any. A complete neurological examination and endocrine assessment is needed as well.
It's likely normal but you should ask her doctor to look at her nose and throat and see if there is anything out of the ordinary. That should only take a few moments at the time of a routine visit.
