Oral herpes

I let my friend use my vape and he has oral herpes. I wiped the vape with my shirt after he used it and he was not experiencing an outbreak when he used the vape. Will I get oral herpes?

If they had an active herpetic lesion you absolutely can. Please avoid sharing
If he didn't have any open sores of active herpes outbreak, you should not get it.
It is always advisable to never share anything including a vape pen with a close friend or relative. The chances of spread of disease can be high when sharing the vape.
As any virus Herpes Simple is highly contagious so sharing your personal belongings might lead to the spread that virus to you. As a human papilloma virus, it is highly facilitated to our tissues and the virus will stay within them for a lifetime.
Hey there. To answer your question more than likely you will not catch it. Most times when you catch herpes it is when the individual has an outbreak and you are exposed either through direct contact or from salivary droplets. More than not you should not get them if the individual is asymptomatic. However you are exposing your mouth to oral bacteria from your friend. Everyone has their own natural flora of bacteria, but when you share something for example a kiss, drink, vape etc you are sharing both good and bad bacteria with each person which could harm the good bacteria in your mouth exposing you to harmful bacteria that could cause decay and gum infections.
Transmission of the herpes virus is most common when someone has an active outbreak of the virus. However even if no active infection is present if someone has herpes they still always carry the virus. It is possible although not likely, to transmit the virus without an active outbreak present.
