Sleep issue?

I have so much trouble sleeping. I wake up more than 5 times a night. I wake up just as many times sleeping on my elbows, propping my upper body up. When I have to wake up the next day, I'm still mentally and physically exhausted. What could be going on?

Waking up frequently, sleeping in odd positions, and feeling exhausted could be signs of a sleep disorder like sleep apnea, anxiety, or chronic insomnia. It's important to see a doctor or sleep specialist for evaluation and possibly a sleep study. Treatment will depend on the cause. Propping yourself up on your elbows at night could be a suggestion that you’re having sleep apnea and this position relieves the obstruction in the upper airway. If you snore this possibility needs to be evaluate it. If not that, multiple awakenings during the night suggest maybe too many stressors going on during the day.
