Virus mutations?

Hi. I'm working on a realistic survival game. I was wondering how reasonable it would be for the MRSA virus to mutate and become extremely contagious and very deadly, to the point where most of the planet's population would die (like an even more contagious and deadlier COVID-19). Or are there known viruses out there that would fit this scenario even better?

MRSA is a bacteria, not a virus. The "R" in the name stands for "resistant." MRSA is already a drug-resistant bacteria. It requires special antibiotics for eradication. Despite the current COVID pandemic, there are other viruses and some bacteria that are quite deadly. As for viruses, Ebola and smallpox can be very dangerous, especially for children. Anthrax is a bacteria that has played a limited role in bioterrorism. It is unlikely that these viruses or bacteria will lead to worldwide decimation of the human race.
