Rheumatologist Questions Arthritis

What are the starting signs of arthritis?

My mom is 65 years old and has off late been complaining of pain in her knees and joints. Is it a starting sign of arthritis?

It is certainly possible that these are signs of arthritis. She should see a rheumatologist for an evaluation and treatment plan.

Men and women 65-years-old do develop arthritis in a variety of joints. Not every pain around a joint is necessarily arthritis. Tendons that attach muscles to bones can hurt. Ligaments that attach bones together can hurt, muscles around joints can hurt. If she has persistent pain in or near a joint a visit to a physician would be appropriate. They could decide on the painful structure and decide on the best therapy.
