What is hot yoga and how does it help?

I have recently been seeing a lot of buzz about hot yoga. What is it and how is it different from the normal yoga? Are there any side effects?

Hot yoga, specifically Bikram yoga, is a unique form of yoga that uses 26 postures, 2 breathing exercises, and a dialogue. The heat enhances circulation, purgative sweating, lymphatic flow and drainage, and allows your musculoskeletal system to lengthen and strengthen while you push at your edges. It's a beautiful and powerful discipline. Many patrons of the practice at first complain about the heat and the long posture holds and the repetitive nature of the dialogue. BUT those elements are the absolute best parts; see, the yoga doesn't change, but you change, and you can so obviously appreciate the changes in you and your body because of the repetition.
Hot yoga is done in rooms above body temperature. It may encourage sweating, which can help release toxins, but if body temperature rises too high, it can put a load on your cardiovascular system. I recommend clearing it with your doctor first.

Its basically a room that it heated above 30 degrees and you do yoga. It increases sweating and detoxification. the major side effects are dizziness, dehydration and headaches. Check with your GP to see if he/she sees any issues with it.
Hot yoga or Bikram Yoga, is yoga performed under higher temperatures. It helps to increase detoxification of pore through sweating, burn calories, increase circulation and much more. Benefits are similar to using a sauna. Yes, there can be side effects such as dehydration. Individuals with coronary heart disease should be cleared by their primary physician or cardiologist before doing hot yoga.
There are many forms of yoga originating in India. Hatha Yoga is the most common and what we associate with the Excercise forms call asanas. From Hatha Yoga came Bikram Yoga or hot yoga, popularized in the 70’s. Take a room heat to 95-108 degrees F, add 40% humidity, teach 26 yoga postures for 90 minutes and you have the very popular hot yoga. Not for everyone, but for those healthy enough to take up an active Excercise program in high heat will enjoy and benefit.
Side effects of doing yoga as much as possible? More beautiful body and more oxygen, especially when combined with breathing exercises, Qi Gong, etc. Any form of yoga is better than no yoga.
