Antacids, preventing it with Proton pump inhibitors, H2 blockers. Seeing a gastroenterologist for upper endoscopy should be considered. Barrett’s esophagus is a preventable and treatable cancer.

There is nothing in particular that you should eat when heartburn occurs. Treat heartburn with Tums, pepcid or omeprazole. Avoid large heavy meals. Do not lie down after eating.
