When should I be concerned about my daughter's cough?

My daughter is 9 years old and she has an intense cough. When should I be concerned about my daughter's cough?

You should be concerned about your daughter’s cough if she has asthma, fever, trouble breathing or the cough has been present for longer than 3 weeks. Some physicians would not get concerned if the cough was less than 6 weeks, but my rule of thumb is 3 weeks.
