If you are known to have anemia and have new onset of difficulty breathing, you should go to ER asap to make sure you get checked. Difficulty breathing could be related to anemia, but also to other serious medical problems. You should also consider seeing a Hematologist in the outpatient setting.
If your breathing problems are caused by anemia, it must be severe and you should go to the ER as soon as possible. Normally diagnostic problems should not be handled in the ER but by private clinics or doctors.
Severe anemia can cause shortness of breath. If you have not had shortness of breath previously, I would go to the Emergency Room.
