Usually any of the anti-inflammatory meds work the best.  Taking 600mg of ibuprofen @ 6hrs or 800mg @8hrs. is the recommended dose.  Check with your doctor to be sure you can take with any other medications you may be on.  Patients on blood thinners and certain stomach conditions do not allow some people to take anti- inflammatory meds.  Hope this helps, Dr. G.
For OTC purposes, taking 1 tab of Ibuprofen along with 1 tab of Tylenol ES in OTC doses can have a great pain killing effect. You may be able to increase the dosing on the Ibuprofen, but please consult your dental professional for more accurate advice.
The 3 pill cocktail if you are not allergic to aspirin 2 Advil's or ibuprofen and 1 extra strength Tylenol, if you are allergic Tylenol3 or tramadol but you have to seek treatment and see your dentist asap
If you’re allowed to take Ibuprofen and acetaminophen, you can take up to 4 ibuprofens and 2 acetaminophen’s together every 6 hours. You should see your dentist for the toothache.
Try Ibuprofen which works fine.
If a tooth hurts it's usually a big deal and requires treatment, not painkillers. I've tried this for myself and for many patients undergoing surgeries: read the bottles! take a "cocktail" of 800mg ibuprofen PLUS 650 mg acetaminophen every 4 hours. set an alarm and don't miss a dose; it can take days to chase the pain cascade. This is hopefully gonna give you some relief to sleep and get into your dentist for diagnosis and treatment. Do NOT delay as infections could set in and in rare cases result in death. This only buys you some time to get in. NOTE: these will cause an inaccurate diagnosis of the tests the dentist should be doing to determine the problem(s). If you can get a same-day appointment do NOT take and go! You can always take it right afterward. Do not use heat, in case there's an infection brewing.
