Why do I have dry, itchy skin?

For the last year, my face has been dry, itchy, burning, sometimes my eyes swell and burn and broke out. I’ve tried everything OTC there is and even quit wearing makeup in hopes it will help. Nothing helps. It may lessen in redness for a couple of days but always comes back full force. My doctor even tested me for lupus to rule that out. It was negative.

You really just need a visit with a board certified dermatologist. The possibilities are many. Allergic contact dermatitis to hair care products is a possibility - many times it causes rash to the ears and neck and face rather than the scalp. Other things are forms of rosacea which can present this way. The more "acne like" look makes it more possible. But also the burning sensation, which can be common with rosacea. Lots of other possibilities - we don't get very good photos form this avenue so it makes it hard as well. See a derm - they will help.

All the best,

I am not sure, but it could be rosacea. Rosacea is often treated with long-term, low dose antibiotic as an anti-inflammatory agent. Rosacea is not an infection, but over-dilated blood vessels. Certain foods and beverages (especially alcohol) can exacerbate the redness.
