Hematologist (Pediatric) | Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Questions Bone Marrow Transplant

Are bone marrow transplants possible for leukemia patients?

My son's daughter was diagnosed with leukemia and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for treatment. She's been diagnosed two years ago, and as her grandmother, I don't want to see her go through this treatment. Are bone marrow transplants possible for leukemia patients?

Depending on the leukemia, the patient, and finding a potential donor, bone marrow transplant may be possible. However chemotherapy is needed for successful bone marrow transplantation, which has a lot of side effects as well.
She needs to have chemo first and then a bone marrow transplant that is the only way to cure it.
If after treatment the disease relapses and did not resound to chemotherapy, they may have bone marrow transplant.
