Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Oral surgery

Are hot foods permitted after oral surgery?

I'm having oral surgery in a few days. I wanted to know if hot foods would be bad after oral surgery?

Yes, we generally recommend bland food (keep the hot spices to a minimum), soft foods, and plenty of liquids until you feel confident you can handle the consistency and temperature of the food you enjoy.
Not for the healing, you just have to be careful depending on how numb your mouth is to not get burned.
You should avoid hot foods for 24-48 hours after surgery. Cold soft foods are best during this time (ice cream, milk shakes, smoothies without seeds, yogurt, pudding, jello, etc.).
