Dentist Questions Tooth extraction

Can alcohol delay the healing of my wisdom tooth removal?

I need to have a wisdom tooth extraction soon, but I didn't realize that my friend planned their party the same week. If I drank alcohol, would it delay the healing process after my removal?

It depends on how many days later. Stay away from carbonated drinks, don't use a straw and do NOT drink if you are taking prescription pain meds. If the party is that important and you are not in pain from the wisdom teeth, you might want to consider rescheduling the surgery to a better timeframe.
It will be best to avoid alcoholic beverages and smoking after a tooth extraction.
The body heals best when it is in a healthy state which means high alkaline state or high pH alcohol is something that will lower the body’s pH and as result may slow down wound healing
