Do sealants really prevent cavities?

I am a 32 year old male and I want to get sealants. Do sealants really prevent cavities?

Yes, sealants are helpful in preventing cavities.
Yes, sealants prevent cavities. Isodry is a great tool to help with placing sealants in a dry field. tooth should be cleaned and polished with paste that does not contain fluoride first. etched with phosphoric acid 30 seconds to 1 min. and then sealed in the dry environment, bite must be checked. patient still has to brush and floss daily, but food, debris, and bacteria finding its way into the grooves of the teeth will be far less.

Sealants are a covering or a "coat" for your teeth. It is applied the the biting surface of back teeth to prevent food and bacteria from getting into the groves. It will not prevent teeth from ever getting cavities. The fact is that if the bacteria count is high enough and can stay on a tooth long enough, it will cause a cavity. Sealants can decrease the chance of getting decay, but they can't prevent it all together.
