ā€œDoes anesthesia make you gassy?ā€

I am a 28 year old male. I had excessive gas after anesthesia. Does anesthesia make you gassy?

No, it should not. But if you had laparoscopic surgery, that may make you gassy.

No. Iā€™m not sure what surgery you had, but most likely it was related to the surgery. There is a possibility that nitrous oxide if used to keep asleep in conjunction with another inhaled anesthetic could have that effect.
There is a gas we use, nitrous oxide, that can make you feel like this. Also, in certain abdominal procedures under geta, you can have less intestinal movements and feel increased gas. I recommend you keep a diet before anesthesia. Avoid beans. cauliflower, and all foods that increase flatulence at least one day before.
