Pediatrician Questions Diarrhea

Are there any home remedies to treat diarrhea?

My son has diarrhea every time we travel. What home remedies can I try to keep his stomach safe and to stop diarrhea?

Traveler's diarrhea is often secondary to bacterial infection, so sometimes antibiotics are needed for trips. Talk to a doctor about risk and need for a prescription before traveling.
Try not feeding him during travel.
Oral rehydration with Pedialyte will help him stay hydrated. You can consult with your pediatrician for oral antibiotic used for traveler's diarrhea when you are traveling outside of the United States. Drinking purified bottled water, proper hand and food hygiene in endemic countries are good preventive measures.
Probiotics help.
It really depends on the cause of diarrhea. If diarrhea is always associated with travel, then it might be infectious.
Hi,

It depends on where he travels to, which part of the world I mean. It could be traveler's diarrhea. Please discuss with his pediatrician.
Hello

Usually diarrhea in children is caused by viruses, where antibiotics usually don’t work. Kids get diarrhea often when traveling because the food is different. So usually we recommend gas x for pain and a light or bland diet.
You can give high fiber binding foods like rice and bananas and carry bottled water to drink.
