There are variety of reasons for facial pigmentary blotchiness. These include postinflammatory hyperpigmentation that follow, such inflammatory processes as acne. Or it can be a fairly common condition known as melasma. An in-office series of superficial peels can be quite helpful for fading these conditions, especially when combined with at-home use of prescription strength topicals, containing medications, such as hydroquinone in higher concentrations, arbutin, kojic acid, glycolic acid, and azelaic acid. Strict sun protection is strongly advised, since all hyperpigmentary problems worsen with sun exposure. Melasma is a chronic and recurring condition by definition, so, with this problem, maximal sun avoidance and protection are the order of the day.
Depends on the type of pigmentation, Melasma can be hard to treat and need peels, creams. Sun spots, lasers. Please visit your dermatologist to get more recommendations and for your yearly skin exams.
