Hematologist-Oncologist Questions hemoglobin

How can hemoglobin levels be increased?

My mother in law’s hemoglobin levels have gone down to 7 due to her kidney disease. The doctor has recommended an injection called CRESP40 which is injected weekly through IV. Is there any anything else we can do that can help in boosting the haemoglobin levels?

low hemoglobin due to renal failure need Erythropoetin PLUS Iron. She need to be tested for Iron level and if it is low, Iron who'll be given to her. other causes of anemia also need to be tested to make sure it is not multifactorial beside kidney issues.
Renal disease can cure anemia and also mask other causes, iron deficiency, b12 deficiency, folate deficiency, and, in older patients, primary bone marrow disorders. Look for those first. If iron is deficient, find the cause, and if tsi [fe/tibc /100 ] is greater than 20%, you can use procrit or aranesp as epo subcutaneous injections.
