While most sutures will be removed after one week, and at that time you will certainly be comfortable, but may be still bruised. I usually recommend patients taking off 10 to 14 days after a facelift to allow swelling and bruising to resolve. At that point, any residual bruising can be covered by make up.
Good luck.
Good luck.
My uncomplicated face lift patients, without eyelid work, can wear makeup and out to diner in 2 to 3 days. I have no bandages and use drains and also double exam each side. Rest assured that even though they look reasonably well, with little to no bruising and swelling, they are not healed. Healing requires 2 to 3 months , but exercise can begin at 2 o 3 weeks.
Great question. The detailed answers depends on the type of facelift that you are having. Is it a deep plane facelift or a short skin flap lift? Will there be a neck component or not? All of these factors can change the recovery time by a week or so. But in general, I tell patients that the recovery for a facelift is usually about 7-10 days. After that you can put on makeup and go out to do your day to day stuff. If you are preparing for a major event such as a wedding or a party then I would usually recommend giving yourself 4-6 weeks of recovery time. By then your new face appears healthy, fresh and perfect for showing off.
Your appearance will look much better one day later and many times with minimal swelling. This may increase the next day and rapidly subside. The bruising will subside in 5 to 7 days but may have a yellow discoloration that can be covered with make up.
Facelift recovery varies from patient to patient. In our clinic we prepare patients for a minimum of two weeks on a special diet with the use of which the patient can shower normally the following day and frequently even go to work with minimal bruising and no swelling. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery
For a face lift bruising and swelling is mostly gone in two weeks. Patients are usually back to work in 10-14 days. The final result is not seen for 6-8 weeks or longer.
The recovery from a facelift is between 7-10 days. Most patients can return to daily lift activities in 3-4 days, can leave the house with makeup in 7-9 days and return to normal in 10-12 days!
There are various forms of facelifts that are more or less extensive. Generally speaking most active recovery should be about 10-14 days with resolution of most swelling and bruising and removal of sutures. Dr. Yuan
Hi and thanks for your question. Recovery from a facelift is highly variable and patient dependent. The initial recovery is generally 7 to 10 days. Most patients are "restaurant ready" by 2 weeks.
Hope this helps.

On average, we tell patients to take off of work for the first 2 weeks. In this time frame, you will be swollen and there could be some mild bruising. Within the first 2 weeks however, you are not bed ridden. We still would like for you to get up and move around, resuming every day activities, with restrictions of course. The first week is when you would be the most uncomfortable. We also have our patients on a vitamin regimen before an after surgery. These vitamins will help you feel much better much faster.
