How long should you stay home with the flu?

My 10 year old son has been home with the flu for a week. How long should you stay home with the flu?

Your child will need to stay home between 24-48 hours after being treated. If tamiflu isn’t given, then your child will need to stay home for 5-7 days.
If your son was diagnosed with Influenza infection, i.e. tested positive, I would recommend him staying home with good hand hygiene, cough etiquette, plenty of fluid and rest. Tylenol or Motrin for fever , headache and or bodyache as needed. Avoid respiratory droplets contact with others. He can go out if 48 hours free of fever either treated with Tamiflu or not.
This is an unusual time for flu infection. It should be safe enough for him to contact others after being fever-free without fever medications for 48 hours.

Thank you,
