OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions OB-GYN

I haven’t had my period in almost 2 years?

Hi I’m 16 and I haven’t had my period in almost 2 years. I’ve talked to my doctor about it but it’s already been 3 appointments where they asked me to wait months but nothing. I’ve done blood tests to check my hormones and their normal and I’m at a normal weight. I don’t know if I should worry as much as I am.

Make sure you are seeing a physician who deals with this. Don't get put off by repeated exams. Have you been given progesterone to try to make your period come on? I would suggest seeing an endocrinologist at some point to assess you.
Not having a period for 2 years after normal cycles prior may be more than isolated incident. It is good to know you have done hormonal evaluation and is normal. Even at a normal weight it is important to have a thorough history of your activities, including diet. Excessive athletic activities, skipping meals, could lead to what is referred to as 'female athlete triad' - FAT. These should be thoroughly investigated. It is also appropriate to seek a specialty consultation or a second opinion.
If you had your period and it went away then you may want to visit a Reproductive Endocrinologist.
Not having a period for 2 years needs further tests like ultrasound and pelvic exam. Ask your pediatrician to refer to a OBGyn so that they can help you.
Take care!
Usually, we would give you a medication to make you have a period. If you don't respond to that, then we would start you on birth control to make you have a cycle. Also, we would have to evaluate you for secondary sexual characteristics like breast development and hair growth.
