The underlying cause needs to be treated ASAP. But yes! Cold compress reduces the inflammation and helps with the pain.
No
Yes, a cold compress can help temporarily, but it would be best to identify the source or cause of the pain through an examination with possible X-ray. The body uses pain as a way to tell us that there is a potential problem.
Best to see a dentist ASAP.

It depends on the cause. If you have swelling, it may give some relief, but you have to get to a dentist to get diagnosed. If it’s a cavity you need to get it filled, if it’s an abscess, you would probably need a root canal treatment.
Unfortunately, cold will not help. In several cases, it might make pain worse. Best go see a dentist.
